Russell Stewart (Founder)

The Stewart group of companies has been a leader in the crushing, washing, classifying and screening of quality aggregate for over 55 years.

Russell Henry Stewart, the Stewart Group of companies founder, regarded as an industry pioneer, began his operation by trading in his car to purchase his first used bulldozer. From this grew the Stewart Group of companies that also included in 1980 Stewart Construction Alberta Ltd owners and operators of sand and gravel pits in Alberta and in 1983 G.H. Stewart in Orillia, owners of sand & gravel pits and operators of haulage trucks of various sizes.

In 1990 J. G. Stewart Construction Ltd. was formed as the portable crushing, washing, classifying and screening arm of the Stewart Group. Headed by Russell’s son John, this company was formed to supply the Ontario aggregate industry with quality service anywhere and anytime.

Today J.G. Stewart Construction operates eight portable crushing spreads that travel the province to produce products that meet the customers’ specifications, whatever they may be.
